Russell County Animal Shelter

The CC Porter Animal Shelter of the Washington County Sheriff's Office is home to a large number of devoted and deserving animals looking for a loving family. You can click to find cats and dogs looking for their "forever home"!

Our clinic's goal is to reduce the problem of dog and cat overpopulation by offering targeted, high-volume, low-cost spay and neuter services in the Virginia counties of Buchanan, Dickenson, Lee, Russell, Scott, Smyth, Tazewell, Washington, and Wise, as well as in the cities of Bristol and Norton, as well as Bristol and the County of Sullivan in Tennessee. Although these counties are the clinic's primary emphasis, animals from other counties may also be welcomed depending on availability.

For more than 30 years, the Animal Control Department of the City of Bristol, Virginia, has taken care of and found homes for the city's stray dogs and cats.
