A nonprofit low-cost spay and neuter clinic's goal is to reduce homelessness and senseless euthanasia in our shelters by offering low-cost spay/neuter services to the general public and rescue organizations.

Four distinct Hampton Roads communities—Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson, and York County—have joined forces to assist the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter (PRAS). The City of Newport News manages and runs this cutting-edge, 30,000 square foot facility on behalf of the four counties.

In January 2015, the Peninsula SPCA, which has served the Peninsula communities with shelter and adoption services for more than 50 years, bravely changed course and became an adoption guarantee or "no kill" shelter. Since then, the Peninsula SPCA has been able to increase the range of services it offers to the Peninsula community, adding humane education initiatives and preventive veterinarian care to its adoption services.
