A suitable shelter that is clean, protects the animal from the outdoors, and offers bedding for cold weather and alternative shade for the summer. No air should be able to pass through the shelter.

We adore our volunteers and couldn't run the shelter successfully without their crucial assistance. A simple questionnaire will be sent to potential volunteers to complete for a quick background check.

By encouraging rescue, adoption, and spay/neuter, we hope to build a community where all dogs and cats have the opportunity to live healthy, happy lives in adoring homes.

The Floyd County Humane Society's purpose is to promote and offer protection, welfare, and animal companions are treated humanely in Floyd County, Virginia.

Our mission is to prevent cruelty, encourage kindness, respect, and reverence for all life forms, and to promote the welfare and humane treatment of all animals, including fish, birds, reptiles, and mammals. To this end, we organize the rescue and temporary care of stray and abandoned animals, spread the values of humaneness through educational initiatives, and through these efforts, we help to build a society that values all living things.

"The Pittsylvania Pet Center is committed to protecting the health, safety, and well-being of all companion animals by working with Animal Control Officers in the enforcement of state and local laws, reducing the number of stray and homeless animals, and providing the best care possible for every animal that comes through our doors. We will shelter and care for homeless, abandoned, and lost animals, work to keep and place animals in safe, loving homes, and provide education to the public about the care and welfare of companion animals.
