The lives of animals in the Rio Grande Valley will only change if we pool our efforts. In Hidalgo County, about 50 animals are put to death every day for various reasons, including lack of space at the neighborhood adoption center, owner negligence, education, or being the victims of animal cruelty. There are many ways to support charities like United 4 Paws and speak up for these helpless animals, including volunteering, making a donation, reporting animal abuse, and raising awareness about pet spaying and neutering.

Murphy's Safe Haven is a non-profit cat rescue run by a kid and a team of volunteers. We work to give the cats and kittens in the RV the best care possible. We offer adoptions, foster homes, surrenders (limited intake), and rescue transfers.

Each year, more than 550,000 people and more than 15,000 animals are served by PVAS' municipal intake, shelter, and placement services for residents of Edinburg, the City of Hidalgo, Hidalgo County, McAllen, and Palmhurst.

Palm Valley Animal Society "engages the hearts, hands, and brains of our community to offer lifesaving treatment, comfort, and compassion to animals in need."

Any animal that is thought to have rabies must be reported to this department. The report must include the victim's name and address if the animal was responsible for a scratch or bite.
