Culpeper County Animal Control

The Culpeper Humane Society is an all-volunteer, home-based, 501c3 dog and cat rescue organization with the goal of creating a No-Kill Community. Through creative initiatives created to support such strategies, our goal is to decrease the amount of shelter that is taken in and increase the amount that is taken out.

A 450-acre, no-kill, quiet sanctuary for all animals, Rikki's Refuge is maintained only by donations from kind and caring people. It is located in Orange County, Virginia.

In accordance with State laws and policies, the Orange County Animal Shelter is in charge of giving the animals that have been entrusted to us humane treatment.

Every county in Virginia is obligated to keep a location for the short-term impoundment of companion animals that have been seized by animal control officials or left by their owners. This location is known as our Animal Shelter in Madison.

In Rappahannock County, Virginia, there is a rescue group called the Rappahannock Animal Welfare League (RAWL). The Rappahannock County animal shelter is run on a day-to-day basis by RAWL, a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation.a

In order to assist permanent homes or opportunities for rescue, the purpose of this page is to give networking and exposure for animals at the shelter. Despite our best efforts to offer accurate information, this page is managed by volunteers who are not employed by the shelter and do not regularly interact with the staff or the animals.
