A "full service" business, the Animal Care and Adoption Center. We accept animals that are brought in by animal control officers from the cities of Texarkana, Arkansas, Texarkana, Texas, Nash, and Wake Village, Texas, as well as animals that are owned by residents of Miller and Bowie County and unwanted stray animals that are discovered in those counties.

In 1977, he then began working for the City of Hot Springs Animal Services. Animal fighting is now a crime in Arkansas thanks in large part to John's efforts. Additionally, he was a founding member of the Arkansas State Animal Control Association, which helped the state's animal control officers get certified.

Since 1997, Needy Paws Animal Shelter, a division of River Valley Humane Society, has offered refuge to ill, hurt, abandoned, and abused animals. We work hard to find healthy, adoptable pets loving, permanent homes as a proud no-kill shelter.

The 501(c)3 Stone County Humane Society, Inc. was established in 1999 with the goal of rehoming stray and abandoned dogs and cats. After three years, it became clear that a permanent shelter building was necessary, and fundraising efforts were launched.
