Second Chance Animal Shelter

The Alpena County homeless dogs and cats are taken care of by the nonprofit Huron Humane Society, Inc. (HHS). We are a no-kill shelter dedicated to curing and rehabilitating the adoptable dogs and cats that come through our doors.

Elk Country Animal Shelter is dedicated to offering a loving home for animals in need of adoption, advocating for companion animals, and promoting awareness of good pet care and the need to reduce the number of unwanted animals in society.

On March 20, 1972, the Cheboygan County Humane Society became a legal entity. The Society is committed to supporting the adoption of adoptable, stray animals and locating homes for them.

The Donald Reece Animal Shelter served as the foundation stone for the establishment of the Otsego County Animal Control Department in 1974. The director of animal control is in charge of managing the staff and the shelter's general operations. The County Administrator is the Director's superior.

We rescue unwanted and stray animals, treat their medical conditions as needed, spay and neuter them, and then place them in loving homes.

Since it opened more than 30 years ago, the AuSable Valley Animal Shelter has saved and enhanced the lives of thousands of stray cats and dogs. Our directors, staff, and volunteers put in a lot of effort to support our aim of giving animals loving, permanent homes.
