Cheboygan County Humane Society

LTBHS is a non-profit, no-kill organization that gives companion animals a temporary home. Every day, we strive to fulfill our purpose of providing all the animals in our care with a warm place to live, veterinary care, and individualized care, as well as proactive measures to reduce pet overpopulation.

The Donald Reece Animal Shelter served as the foundation stone for the establishment of the Otsego County Animal Control Department in 1974. The director of animal control is in charge of managing the staff and the shelter's general operations. The County Administrator is the Director's superior.

The Charlevoix Area Humane Society is an independent non-profit 501(c)3 no-kill animal shelter that has been helping pets and their owners in Charlevoix County since 1974. It is committed to the protection and care of all animals.

The Mackinac County Board of Commissioners passed an animal control ordinance in June 1997 requiring all dogs old enough to receive a rabies shot to be licensed annually.

Elk Country Animal Shelter is dedicated to offering a loving home for animals in need of adoption, advocating for companion animals, and promoting awareness of good pet care and the need to reduce the number of unwanted animals in society.

Cat and kitten rescue Just Cats, Inc. operates out of foster homes. To assist the neighborhood with the stray cat population, we collaborate closely with other rescue organizations, shelters, and humane societies. When owners can no longer give their cats or kittens the care they need, we also assist in finding new homes for them.
