Dr. Alan Potthoff founded MVMC in 2009 as the Maine Veterinary Referral Center. The Animal Neurology Clinic was formerly operated by Dr. Potthoff and was located in Portland. His goal was to create a world-class, all-in-one hospital when he relocated the hospital to Scarborough.

If you own a cat, you may be acquainted with the difficulties of bringing your pet to a clinic that treats only animals. Your cat may get agitated and aggressive towards dogs, birds, and occasionally unusual pets. You can bring your pet in for routine care more easily at our specialty feline care clinic where you'll receive treatment from a feline-only veterinarian in a feline-only environment.
