On or near the Petaluma River, there have been warehouses and a feed shop for over a century. It all began in the early 1900s, when a man named Magnus Vonsen stocked the warehouses on 1st Street, near to the Petaluma River, with grain for the agricultural city of Petaluma. Petaluma was regarded as the "Egg Basket of the World" at the time, with over a dozen feed mills springing up around the town.
