Town of Barre Community Dog Park

A small group of volunteers founded the Town of Barre Community Dog Park in September 2017 with the goal of building a safe and secure fenced-in off-leash dog park. We got support from the Town of Barre after presenting our concept to the Recreation Board and the Select Board, as long as it was a donation-funded, volunteer-maintained dog park that did not require taxpayer funding. Janice King, Heidi Burghoff-Vihinen, and Illari Vihinen are the owners of the dog park agreement, which runs until June 30, 2019 and can be renewed if all parties agree. David Rouleau, Vice-Chair of the Recreation Board, and Elaine Wang, Assistant Town Manager, Town of Barre, are our key contacts with the Town.

The North Branch River Park spans for about a mile along the river. A major multi-use walkway runs alongside the river, while a network of smaller multi-use trails, including some suitable to mountain biking, runs above it in the mountainous terrain. The park is also home to a variety of birds and other species, as well as valuable wetlands. Park Rules and history can be found by clicking on the links to the left.
