Bark Park

Pets are welcome at West Wetlands Park. Bring your leashed dog to this 110-acre park, which is a gem and well-loved by Yuma residents. The lower bench's 30 acres have been restored with native trees and grasses, while the top bench's 30 acres have been developed with a lake, picnic ramadas, parking, lighting, and landscaping. The Charles Flynn Riverfront Trail, a 1.3-mile trail, is also located in the park. Dogs on leashes are permitted throughout the park. West Wetlands Park is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day of the week.

Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization working to establish a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and linking corridors, supports the Yuma Crossing Bike Path, which is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by the group. This "rail-trail," which was once an abandoned railroad line, is now a terrific spot to walk Petzooie in Yuma!

Pets are welcome at Quartzsite Dog Park. There are two portions to this park: one for large dogs and one for tiny dogs. There's a good grassy area for dogs to run about on, as well as a few agility training toys strewn about. Owners can rest at the picnic tables while their dogs rehydrate at the water station. Quartzsite Dog Park is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Hundreds of plant and animal species call this beautiful refuge home. It's a lovely spot to stroll around with your leashed pet. Cabeza Prieta is the third largest refuge in the lower 48 states, with an area of 860,410 acres. Congress designated almost 90% of the Refuge (or 803,418 acres, an area greater than Rhode Island) as wilderness in the 1990 Arizona Wilderness Act, making it Arizona's largest wilderness region. The refuge shares 56 miles of border with Sonora, Mexico, and is located near Organ Pipe National Monument west of Ajo in southwestern Arizona.

Buckskin Mountain State Park in Parker, Arizona, is a dog-friendly state park with one of the best vistas of the Colorado River along the Parker strip, an 18-mile length between Parker Dam and Headgate Dam. On both the Arizona and California banks of the river, mountains flank the river, and the wildlife is as diverse as the recreational opportunities. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times and are free to roam the campgrounds.

At River Island State Park, you may go tent camping, hiking, and relaxing with your best buddy. This park is ideal for a day or more spent in nature, with 37 campsites, a sandy beach, cove, boat launch area, ramada, and trails. Petzooie is invited to join you on the beach to the east of the boat ramp. At all times, dogs must be leashed and supervised.
