Many of the attractions at Balboa Park, one of the country's largest urban parks with over 1000 acres, are dog-friendly. The park, which is located in San Diego, features several open areas, gardens, and walking routes, as well as the San Diego Zoo, museums, and theaters. Dogs can also explore two approved off-leash areas: Balboa Dr near El Prado on the south side of Cabrillo Bridge and Morley Field northwest of the tennis courts. Dogs must be leashed at all times when not in a designated off-leash area, and humans must pick up after their dogs throughout the park and off-leash areas.

Nate's Point Off-Leash Dog Park, located in Balboa Park, is regarded as one of the top dog parks in the San Diego area. The park is entirely fenced in. A double-entry gate, a drinking fountain, and picnic tables are among the park's features. It's open every day. Wednesday mornings are closed for maintenance.
