Zuma Canyon Loop Trail

The Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area's Zuma Canyon Trailhead is a beautiful hike. Leashed (no more than six feet) pets are welcome to accompany their owners on this walk, which is a beautiful area to see the seasons change. Visit the magnificent 200-foot Escondido Falls on this 4-mile out-and-back trek with your dog. The terrain is steep, and there are a few creek crossings where the water can be high at times, so be sure your dog is up to the challenge before starting. At all times, dogs must be leashed.

Solstice Canyon includes hikes through coastal sage scrub and riparian plant ecosystems that are easy, moderate, or challenging. Picnics, a shady stroll down the Solstice Canyon Trail, or a more difficult hike up the Rising Sun Trail are all options for visitors. Pets must be on a leash at all times. Dogs are allowed, but they must always be kept on a six-foot leash. Please ensure that your dog is cleaned up after. Take your dog for a walk on this easy track that offers stunning views of the ocean and allows tourists to have a picnic, a shady stroll down the Solstice Canyon track, or a more difficult climb up the Rising Sun Trail.

On the 3.8-mile climb below Castro Peak, you and your dog may explore the magnificent saddles and green canyon.
