Santa Margarita River Trail

A dog-friendly trail at Monserate Mountain Preserve in Fallbrook, CA, has a 1.5-mile ascent to the peak for panoramic views of the coast and mountains. Bring plenty of water for yourself and Petzooie. Please keep in mind that it is too hot to bring a dog along in the summer. The trailhead is located near the intersection of Stewart Canyons and Pankey Road, just east of I-15. Many of the Fallbrook Land Conservancy Preserves allow leashed dogs.

Tenaja Falls Trail is an easy, dog-friendly half-hour hike near Fallbrook, CA that leads to Tenaja Falls. The Morgan Trail continues another 2.1 miles up the canyon before coming to an end. Petzooie will enjoy playing off-leash in the dog park at Redhawk Community Park in Temecula, CA, which is a huge grassy area with plenty of space for dogs to run and play. There are many enclosed play spaces for visitors, as well as a portion for smaller breeds. There are water stations and sheltered areas in the park.
