South Wood County Humane Society

Our goal has been to prevent cruelty, abuse, neglect, and overpopulation of companion animals since 1969. We also work to find these animals adoptive homes, spread humane awareness and respect for all life, and improve communities via these efforts.

When concerned residents realized Marshfield needed an animal sanctuary, MAPS was established in 2011. They put in a lot of effort to spread the word about their cause. To garner support, they participated in parades, sat at fair booths, served brat fries, and went to every local event they could.

We adopt dogs out through a thorough process that includes carefully matching them with adopters, educating potential adopters, and providing ongoing support. Dogs are then placed in loving, responsible, devoted permanent homes.

The Adams County Humane Society is a privately owned, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that depends entirely on contributions, adoption fees, services, and fundraisers. Our animals are surrendered by their owners from all around the state, from overcrowded facilities, and as strays.

Feline/Canine Friends, Inc. was established in 1989 by retired teacher Marie Valentino as a refuge primarily for unwanted pets with a focus on animals with special needs. The shelter, which is now our sanctuary and is home to our non-adoptable & special-needs cats, was formerly situated in Grand Marsh, Wisconsin. We expanded our organization in 2014 by constructing a sizable building in Westfield, Wisconsin.

HSWC is a nonprofit organization that promotes compassion and caring by improving the lives of both people and animals via companion animal care and humane education.
