Animal Shelters

A nonprofit organization called Portsmouth Humane provides assistance to the residents and animals of Portsmouth, Virginia, through admission, adoption, lost/found, and resource programs. Although we have a contract to care for the city's stray animals, the money we receive only covers a small portion of our expenses. We are really dependent on the donations from our kind supporters!

Over 24,000 lives have been rescued by Lucky Dog Animal Rescue since 2009.

In January 2015, the Peninsula SPCA, which has served the Peninsula communities with shelter and adoption services for more than 50 years, bravely changed course and became an adoption guarantee or "no kill" shelter. Since then, the Peninsula SPCA has been able to increase the range of services it offers to the Peninsula community, adding humane education initiatives and preventive veterinarian care to its adoption services.

By providing animals in need with hope, assistance, and loving homes, the Richmond Animal League is dedicated to saving lives. With a goal of lowering euthanasia rates, RAL concentrates its rescue efforts on its Virginia shelter partners' most vulnerable animals.

To foster compassion for all living things, to give homeless animals a somewhere to stay, and to encourage ethical pet ownership in our neighborhood.

501(c)3 registered "no kill" animal rescue and sanctuary organization Til the End of Time Sanctuary (TTEOTS).

The Roanoke Valley is home to the non-profit, no-kill League for Animal Protection (LAP). In order to help them find their forever homes, our volunteers and supporters rescue and care for abandoned dogs and cats.

The new County Pound was built with the help of the public and the Hanover Humane Society, which was established in July 1986. It opened its doors in 1990. A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Hanover Humane Society.

"The Pittsylvania Pet Center is committed to protecting the health, safety, and well-being of all companion animals by working with Animal Control Officers in the enforcement of state and local laws, reducing the number of stray and homeless animals, and providing the best care possible for every animal that comes through our doors. We will shelter and care for homeless, abandoned, and lost animals, work to keep and place animals in safe, loving homes, and provide education to the public about the care and welfare of companion animals.
