Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries

Our goal is to save lives by fostering a community that encourages the human-animal bond through outreach, education, and advocacy, the adoption of healthy dogs and cats into loving homes, spaying and neutering to end the suffering of overpopulation and to improve public health, and the humane and compassionate treatment of all animals.

A committed group of animal lovers got together in the spring of 2003 to talk about the potential for establishing and operating a no-kill animal shelter in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. We established a board of directors, became a 501(c)3 non-profit organization by year's end, and started organizing and raising money to construct the shelter.

Stray dogs and cats from Bradford and Sullivan Counties are housed at BCHS.

As a no-kill facility, LAPS offers cats shelter, food, company, and medical attention for an extended length of time—sometimes for the whole of their lives. Although expensive, that is our promise.

The only full-service animal shelter in the area that welcomes and places ALL domestic animals up for adoption. For reporting and looking into animal mistreatment, turn to us. Your contributions to our independently owned SPCA remain locally.

In Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, we operate a tiny no-kill animal shelter. Call us if you'd like to make an appointment. Same day appointments usually available.
