Lassen County Animal Shelter

The Lassen Humane Society (LHS) was established in 1985 by a small group of committed volunteers who took on the challenge of advocating for animals in Lassen County.

A no-kill organization, High Sierra Animal Rescue began operations in May 1999. We have 17 rescue kennels, 21 boarding kennels, and have found loving, long-term homes for almost 4,500 animals.

Wonderful dogs and cats are available for adoption at the Paradise Animal Shelter. All of our animals are assessed upon arrival, and healthy animals are vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas and ticks within 48 hours of arriving at the shelter.

The High Plateau Humane Society is committed to aiding Modoc County's cats and dogs by rescuing adoptable shelter canines, assisting in the placement of stray cats, and providing low-cost spay, neuter, and vaccination programs to low-income households.

501(c)(3) non-profit Wags and Whiskers Pet Rescue was established in August 2015 and is an all-breed, NO KILL, animal rescue group. We are an animal rescue organization run entirely by volunteers, and we have many years of expertise.
