Plumas County Animal Shelter

A no-kill organization, High Sierra Animal Rescue began operations in May 1999. We have 17 rescue kennels, 21 boarding kennels, and have found loving, long-term homes for almost 4,500 animals.

The Lassen Humane Society (LHS) was established in 1985 by a small group of devoted volunteers who took on the challenge of advocating for the animals of Lassen County.

Wonderful dogs and cats are available for adoption at the Paradise Animal Shelter. All of our animals are assessed upon arrival, and healthy animals are vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas and ticks within 48 hours of arriving at the shelter.

In 1980, the Northwest SPCA was established as a private, non-profit organization with the mission of advancing animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. Our charitable, 501(c)(3) organization is recognized by the IRS, and our humane programs and services include pet-facilitated therapy, lost and found pet referral, animal rescues, humane education speakers to local schools and community groups, pet microchipping, animal cruelty and/or neglect investigations, pet adoptions, and animal sheltering.

Before they are put to death, we want to find abandoned dogs loving homes. As our resources permit, we rescue Chow Chows, Chow mixes, and other worthy canines.
