BARC The Humane Society

Dava Cooley-Cook, our founder and executive director, and her family launched County Roads Rescue in May 2016. Even though our family has always had a soft spot for animal rescue, our decision to launch a true rescue was spurred by the huge problem of stray and unwanted animals as well as the knowledge that Cherokee County people had no other options.

We are a refuge run by the city. Only stray and lost animals from the City of Jacksonville will be accepted by us.

With the kind assistance of people, organizations, and foundations, the Athens Animal Rescue Shelter has helped animals in need. Every animal that is brought to our facility receives love, care, food, shelter, and medical attention.

We operate as a 501c3 non-profit. For all of our needs, we only rely on donations, fundraising, and volunteers. We have foster homes for all of our rescued animals.

Located in Tyler, Texas, Nicholas Pet Haven is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides care for rescued animals.
