Southeast Volusia Humane Society

We take in unwanted and stray animals from the City of Edgewater and work to place those that can be adopted into loving homes.

A 501(c)(3) public nonprofit serving the Greater Daytona Beach region of Volusia County, Florida, is the Halifax Humane Society. In 1937, the Halifax Humane Society was established.

Our top priority is to save animals that are neglected or in danger, give them updated vaccinations, and find them loving homes. We sincerely hope to avoid the need for any animal to be "rescued."

In DeLand, Florida, there is a special refuge for animals who cannot be adopted called Journey's End. There are currently pigs, horses, sheep, dogs, and cats living there. Both cages and euthanasia are absent.

Since there was no animal control in DeLand at the time, five locals got together in October 1955 to take action against the stray animal problem.

Since the 1950s, the West Volusia Humane Society has operated as a NO-KILL shelter in Deland, Florida, with the goal of protecting all animals.
