Our MISSION is to speak up for them and save their lives by promoting no-kill principles, promoting adoption, supporting spay/neuter, educating the public, and assisting responsible care.

In DeLand, Florida, there is a special refuge for animals who cannot be adopted called Journey's End. There are currently pigs, horses, sheep, dogs, and cats living there. Both cages and euthanasia are absent.

Since there was no animal control in DeLand at the time, five locals got together in October 1955 to take action against the stray animal problem.

Since the 1950s, the West Volusia Humane Society has operated as a NO-KILL shelter in Deland, Florida, with the goal of protecting all animals.

We take in unwanted and stray animals from the City of Edgewater and work to place those that can be adopted into loving homes.

We give lost and hungry animals a place to stay and food, and we match them with lifelong partners in forever homes.
