Animals are not killed at KAAS. The duration of the animals in our care is unrestricted. The animal stays with us for however long it takes to find a new home, as long as it is physically and psychologically well. When necessary, we work in collaboration with other animal welfare organizations and specialized rescues to assist in placing animals in adoring homes.

The Central Nebraska Humane Society, which was founded in 1967 and is now celebrating nearly 50 years of operation, is still housed in the original location that Herbert and Barbara Glover provided. The largest nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to animal welfare in central Nebraska is called CNHS. A Board of Directors oversees CNHS and sets the organization's policies, operational norms, strategic plans, and fundraising goals.
