The Hill Country Humane Society (HCHS) is a managed admission, 501(c)3 non-profit animal shelter. For the purpose of housing stray dogs and cats, HCHS has agreements with the counties of Llano and Burnet as well as the cities of Burnet, Bertram, Granite Shoals, Cottonwood Shores, and Horseshoe Bay.

A 9-acre ranch dedicated to the care, welfare, and adoption of abused and abandoned dogs and cats is located in Texas' stunning Hill Country. Animal shelter Living Love Animal Rescue is non-profit and does not use cages.

Stray and unwanted cats and dogs from the City of Fredericksburg, Texas, and Gillespie County are taken in by the City of Fredericksburg Animal Control/Animal Shelter.

In Texas, the Hill Country SPCA received its 501(c)(3) non-profit organization charter in October 1997.
