Leadville/Lake County Animal Shelter

We are extremely fortunate to reside in a community that supports its animal shelter and animal control, and that prioritizes pet ownership.

We are entirely made up of volunteers. There is more to our facilities than meets the eye.

With facilities in Poncha Springs and Buena Vista, the Ark-Valley Humane Society provides Chaffee County with an open admission animal shelter.

The Aspen Animal Shelter is a for-profit, self-sufficient animal rescue that combines a boarding kennel, a grooming parlor, and a pet store to raise the money required to provide sanctuary for the stray dogs and cats of Aspen, Pitkin County, and beyond.

With the goal of maintaining a safe neighborhood where we encourage responsible pet ownership through outreach, education, and enforcement, Animal Services offers care and shelter to stray animals in need.

A 501(c)3 non-profit organization called Colorado Greyhound Adoption (CGA) is dedicated to the adoption and placement of greyhounds. Since we are entirely run by volunteers, individual homes foster the dogs that are available.
