We are entirely made up of volunteers. There is more to our facilities than meets the eye.

Putting into action the highest standards of animal care, advocacy, and education to reunite pets with their owners.

The Aspen Animal Shelter is a for-profit, self-sufficient animal rescue that combines a boarding kennel, a grooming parlor, and a pet store to raise the money required to provide sanctuary for the stray dogs and cats of Aspen, Pitkin County, and beyond.

We are extremely fortunate to reside in a community that supports its animal shelter and animal control, and that prioritizes pet ownership.

Through community outreach and youth programs, we aim to inform the public. We also support low-cost spay and neuter options and care for the animals in our care while they wait to be adopted.

The Journey Home Animal Care Center serves as a community resource for animal welfare, encouraging responsible pet ownership while also providing temporary shelter and care for homeless animals.
