A nonprofit animal sanctuary called Living Free's main goal is to save cats and dogs whose time at public shelters has run out. War Horse Creek, an immersive transition training program that helps veterans acclimate to everyday life, is also located here.

The only public shelter in the Coachella Valley that adheres to the no-kill concept is Palm Springs Animal Shelter. Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter, a 501(c)(3) organization (TAX ID 33-0731853) committed to responsible pet stewardship and the humane treatment of animals, manages and runs our facility.

We are committed to preserving the animals in our neighborhood that are most at risk of being put to death. As a nonprofit, we work to maintain modest operating expenses so that donations can go entirely toward caring for our animals.
