Poweshiek Animal League Shelter (PALS)

The League for Animal Rescue in Jasper County & Humane Society is a no-kill facility dedicated to saving animals and giving all animals in Jasper County a secure haven.

Whether due to a need for medical care, behavioral issues, or emotional trauma, Paws-N-Claws Iowa works to provide opportunities for those animals. We view each animal as an individual and treat them as such.

Every year, the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter in Oskaloosa, Iowa, provides care for nearly 1000 stray, abandoned, abused, and other homeless animals.

Our goal is to care for stray animals humanely and either give them back to their owners or find them new, devoted homes. Additionally, we'll inform the public about the value of spaying and neutering pets and responsible pet ownership.

The goal of Safe Haven is to find suitable homes for dogs and cats in Iowa County while also rescuing, defending, and rehabilitating them. Second, through public outreach and the support of low-cost or free spay and neuter programs, to drastically reduce the number of stray dogs and cats and enhance both human and animal quality of life.

Through its programs, which include pet adoption, humane education, pet behavior training, spay/neuter, animal cruelty intervention, and more, the ARL assists people and animals from all over the state of Iowa.
