Murray County Humane Society

Preventing rabies from spreading to the residents of Murray County. lowering the frequency of injuries caused by animals by encouraging responsible pet ownership through public education

The Dalton Humane Society, Inc., forerunner to the Humane Society of Northwest Georgia, was established in 1977. The organization was renamed the Humane Society of Northwest Georgia, Inc. in 1988. The land for our prior building was leased from Dr. Charles Wade's family in 2006.

The Whitfield County Animal Shelter's goal is to give abused, stray, and owner-returned animals temporary housing while also providing a safe environment and the necessary care up until a decision about their future can be made.

Dogs and cats can be adopted from Catoosa County Animal Control. The division also deals with complaints about stray or bothersome animals.

The organization's staff, which is entirely made up of volunteers, is committed to saving and rehabilitating homeless companion animals that have been abandoned, owner-rendered, or taken in from the county's high-kill shelters.

The animal shelter in Gilmer County is a county-run facility. We keep domesticated animals that have been abandoned, abused, and are unwanted. These animals can also be adopted.
