In an effort to ensure the safety of both residents and animals in the neighborhood, we advocate responsible pet ownership, assist with the housing and care of stray and abandoned domestic animals, look into complaints of animal mistreatment and bites, and promote pet adoption.

BCHS has been an institution committed to providing humane care for animals in need in Bartholomew County for over 50 years.

The goal of Animal Outreach of Shelby County is to increase the live release rate at the Shelbyville Shelby County Animal Shelter by promoting spay/neuter programs, fostering responsible pet ownership, and implementing trap/neuter/return (TNR) as a humane way to deal with the strays and feral cats that are becoming an increasingly large problem.

Our mission is to assist those who lack the ability to speak for themselves, to provide unwanted, abused, and injured animals with humane care, to stop animal cruelty, and to place adoptable pets in suitable, long-term homes with responsible owners.

The Brown County Humane Society is a nonprofit, privately funded organization with the sole purpose of helping the dogs and cats of Brown County. We offer a variety of programs both within the shelter and outside the neighborhood.
