The nonprofit Big Paws Large Breed Rescue takes in surrendered dogs and provides them with a temporary home until we are able to place them with new, devoted homes. We are a no-kill animal rescue organization.

A nonprofit group called THE SANCTUARY FOR Older DOGS is committed to the rescue, adoption, and lifelong care of senior dogs left in pounds and shelters.

A skilled team of enthusiastic cat lovers known as Viva Los Gatos Cat Rescue is committed to saving and placing stray, abandoned, and mistreated cats and kittens in the greater Cleveland area in loving, permanent homes.

To promote compassion and put an end to animal suffering is the goal of the Cleveland Animal Protective League.

Secondhand Mutts was started in 2006 and ran as a grassroots community organization until becoming a recognized nonprofit in 2009. It was inspired by one dog left and tied to the door at the founders' canine socialization center.

The Division of Animal Care and Control of The City of Cleveland runs the CITY DOGS Cleveland program (CACC). The goal of CITY DOGS is to increase adoptions from the City Kennel by improving public perceptions of pit bulls, who make up the majority of the kennel's residents, fostering loving homes for all of the kennel's adoptable dogs, and providing as many opportunities as possible for people to meet and fall in love with our dogs as the wonderful pets they were meant to be.
