To provide a home for abandoned, abused, and forgotten animals. to protect animals from pain and give them medical attention.

The Whitfield County Animal Shelter's goal is to give abused, stray, and owner-returned animals temporary housing while also providing a safe environment and the necessary care up until a decision about their future can be made.

We think that dogs have a right to a quality of life that includes respect, compassion, joy, and happiness—but most importantly, love—as living beings. We firmly believe that for every dog we take into our shelter, the ideal home is already out there, waiting for them.

The Dalton Humane Society, Inc., forerunner to the Humane Society of Northwest Georgia, was established in 1977. The organization was renamed the Humane Society of Northwest Georgia, Inc. in 1988. The land for our prior building was leased from Dr. Charles Wade's family in 2006.

Preventing rabies from spreading to the residents of Murray County. lowering the frequency of injuries caused by animals by encouraging responsible pet ownership through public education

Our mission is to reduce pet overpopulation through spay/neuter programs and to find good, loving homes for the abandoned and abused animals in our community.
