Our team is made up of caring individuals who wish to have a positive impact on the lives of pets and their owners. We've dedicated ourselves to establishing a warm and welcoming environment where you and your dogs can expect the best possible care!

On August 1, 2018, Horizon Veterinary Specialists opened its doors. Five local board-certified veterinary professionals in respective disciplines created us. Horizon Veterinary Specialists is available for small animal specialty and emergency veterinary care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our hospital serves the counties of Ventura and Santa Barbara, as well as the surrounding areas. Dr. Sarah Gray and Dr. Nancy Scott, both well-known Criticalists, are both board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. In late 2016, they co-founded Emergency Veterinary Care (EVC), a Ventura after-hours emergency hospital. Dr. Mary Ellen McLoughlin, a highly experienced Emergency Veterinarian, joined them at first. Soon after, Drs. Amy Rhoades, Melissa Herrera, and Theresa Ortega, all board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, joined the practice.
