The oldest continuously operating veterinary hospital in McPherson County is where Heartland Veterinary Clinic is situated. In 1992, Dr. Handlin bought it from Dr. Scoby. Scoby's Veterinary Hospital's name has been changed to Heartland Veterinary Clinic. Since its small beginnings, it has expanded to now employ six full-time workers as well as a number of part-time general and specialist support staff. Neil Walker, DVM founded Southview Veterinary Hospital in 1969 and later sold it to his younger brother, Brad Walker, DVM, in 1980. In order to realize her lifelong dream of having a small animal practice that takes care of household pets, Misti May, DVM, bought the business in 2002. To better care for her children, Caroline and Andrew, Misti relocated to McPherson.
