Since April 2010, when Spay And Neuter of the Desert Society (S.A.N.D.S.) was granted 501(c) (3) non-profit status, we have assisted responsible owners in sterilizing over 3500 dogs and cats, both domestic and feral. This has prevented the unintended births of 60,000 pups and kittens over a five-year period, which would have added to Imperial County's already-increasing number of abandoned or euthanized pets.
