Dr. Evans was born and raised in San Diego. He relocated to complete his studies at the University of California, Davis, for his undergraduate and veterinary degrees. He earned a B.S. in Biology with a concentration in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. During his time at Davis, he was a member of the men's volleyball team, spent a quarter learning tropical biology in Costa Rica, and then spent a quarter studying the Black and Chestnut eagle with a research team in the Peruvian jungles.

Aviara Animal Health Center, which opened its doors in 1985, has been a staple for pet owners in Carlsbad, Oceanside, Encinitas, Cardiff, Escondido, Vista, and other parts of Northern San Diego County.
