Dr. John Migliore and Dr. Ken Fiser have been practicing for over 35 years in the heart of the Central Valley. On February 6, 1960, VSI was founded. This was the outcome of a collaboration between Willis D. Woodward, DVM, and Donald W. Rosenberg, DVM, in their joint practice, as well as Frank G. Sweetman, a former Van Waters and Rogers sales agent.

They founded VSI to capitalize on the chance to sell poultry-related health goods to a larger audience. Following that, while working for Merck, John E. Pugliese recognized the promise of VSI and joined them in 1962.
