Concord Pet began as a trailer at Larry's Mobile in 1978. The Mutschler family was originally looking for a solution to feed their horses. Larry Mutschler built his first retail outlet in Wilmington, Delaware, on Concord Pike in 1981. In a 1,000 square foot building, there was only one employee. Larry had two partners at first: his brother and a close buddy. By 1998, the company had expanded to nine sites.
