Concord Pet began as a trailer at Larry's Mobile in 1978. The Mutschler family was originally looking for a solution to feed their horses. Larry Mutschler built his first retail outlet in Wilmington, Delaware, on Concord Pike in 1981. In a 1,000 square foot building, there was only one employee. Larry had two partners at first: his brother and a close buddy. By 1998, the company had expanded to nine sites.

We opened a second store two weeks later in West Chester, in the Westtown Village Shopping Center, on the crossroads of Routes 202 and 926. (right next to Acme). We then launched our third shop in Chadds Ford on Route 202 North and Smithbridge Road after a little hiatus (next to Brusters).
