Our pets appreciate the finer things in life, just like many of us do. 

No matter what we do for fun or for job, farming is a part of who we are for some people, a huge part for others. It's that part of us that "kicks in" when we squeeze a lemon, thump a watermelon or smell the flowers. The Grange wants to equip and celebrate that aspect of you!

My first dog was named Simon. When he was only six months old, I saved him from the pound. It wasn't until he was nine that I realized what was legally allowed to be in dog food. I was alarmed and outraged. I discovered an entirely unregulated industry in addition to deceptive labels, hazardous chemical preservatives, and nasty "ingredients."

In Seattle, Washington, Pet Professionals was first established in 1986. Since then, our business has expanded from a single location in North Seattle to 18 locations across Washington, making us one of the biggest independent pet supply merchants in the Pacific Northwest. 

When Elsa Wulff bought a little farm store in 1988, Mud Bay was born. Early on, Mud Bay sold a little of almost everything, from locally grown oysters, pop tarts, and folk art to hog feed, fertilizer, and hay. The store was housed in an 80-year-old building on Mud Bay Road, which runs west out of Olympia and spans the bottom end of Mud Bay, one of the southern arms of Puget Sound. The shop also suffered a loss. Lars, Elsa's son, joined Mud Bay as its third employee in 1989 after realizing that his mother couldn't afford for the company to fail.

Susan and Ira Moss have devoted their lives to studying about the requirements for maintaining the health of companion animals since since they brought home their first Akita puppy in 1980.
