 She believed she had the drive, local focus, and expertise to establish a Park City option for pet care requirements because she had lived in Park City since 1983, completed her undergraduate requirements at Westminster College, and then earned a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Utah. She was adamant from the start that the company she wanted to start would offer the high quality products and services frequently associated with smaller businesses. The Barking Cat's doors officially opened to the public in July 2014, making Merridee's dreams come true.

We are here to keep our families together, so we are aware of the crippling terror that results when they don't return. Yes, modern technology may offer to aid in that endeavor. But in reality, tagging our best friend is still the quickest and most reliable way to get them back.

Our furry friends, in our opinion, are more than just decorative additions to the sofa; they are vital parts of our family who bring people together through our shared love of them. They deserve the cleanest diet produced in accordance with nature's design so that they can remain vibrant and in excellent health for years. Being carnivores by nature, dogs and cats need a diet high in protein. Since humans are omnivores, their nutritional requirements have diverged greatly from those of our dogs and cats.

 Every critter she has ever owned has been a rescue, including the 10-year-old rabbit she found in a dumpster and the 26-year-old turtle who was destined for the trash at a pet shop because her shell was so broken.
