Lake Lucille Dog Park

The Lake Lucile Dog Park is open all year. It's a fenced-in space for dogs to run at the Lake Lucile Park entrance that's about 300 feet long and 60 feet wide. During the summer, there is water accessible for the dogs. Although there is limited parking, there is enough of space for Fido to run around, play fetch, and sniff his heart out.

Hatcher Pass Management Area

At state parks and campgrounds, pets must be leashed and accompanied by their owners at all times; unleashed dogs are permitted in the wilderness but must be under voice direction. If you have a pet, please clean up after it. Within 100 feet of a cabin, sled dogs and horses should not be tied. The Hatcher Pass Management Area is mostly made up of hilly terrain in the Talkeetna Mountain Range that rises from a valley floor of 1000 feet to summits of over 6,000 feet. In the summer, Hatcher Pass provides access to exceptional mountaineering terrain, stunning mountain views, gold panning, berry picking, hiking, biking, and horseback riding. During the winter, it also offers mountain skiing, snowboarding, sledding, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. The Palmer-Fishhook road leads to the east side of Hatcher Pass from Mile 49.5 on the Glenn Highway, while the Willow-Fishhook Road off the Parks Highway leads to the west entrance.

Nancy Lake State Recreation Area

If you have a pet, please clean up after it. Within 100 feet of a cabin, sled dogs and horses should not be tied. Unlike most Alaskan park sites, Nancy Lake State Recreation Area is unique. It's one of Alaska's few flat, lake-studded landscapes that's been protected for pleasure. The pristine waters of the recreation area are surrounded by unspoilt forests, providing a serene backdrop for canoeing, fishing, hiking, and camping. The sloping terrain is perfect for cross-country skiing, dog mushing, and snowmachining in the winter. At Mile 67.3 of the Parks Highway, turn west onto Nancy Lake Parkway to join the recreation area. The Nancy Lake Parkway continues southwest for 6.5 miles to South Rolly Lake Campground; the parkway is not plowed beyond the Winter Trailhead at mile 2.2 in the winter.
