Ft Meade Recreation Area Park

The Lakota name for this location is Mato Paha, which means "Bear Mountain." This geological deposit, known to the Cheyenne as "Noahvose," is one of several igneous rock intrusions in the Black Hills that occurred millions of years ago.

The Dakota Dunes Community Improvement District (CID) is a local government that functions similarly to a municipality. A five-member Board of Supervisors, elected by the citizens, governs the CID.

As weather permits, the dog parks at the Nature Area, Manor Park, Moccasin Creek Recreation Area, and Lincoln Hockey Rink will be open from spring to fall. From daybreak to 11:00 p.m., the dog park sections are open. Daily and open to the whole population. The Lincoln Dog Park is for canines who are 17 inches tall at the shoulders and under.
