Caines Head State Recreation Area
At state parks and campgrounds, pets must be leashed and accompanied by their owners at all times; unleashed dogs are permitted in the wilderness but must be under voice direction. If you have a pet, please clean up after it. Within 100 feet of a cabin, sled dogs and horses should not be tied. From Lowell Point to the recreation area, the 4.5-mile coastal walk leads to North Beach. Only at low tide can a piece of this trail be traveled. Hikers can walk to Fort McGilvray and then to South Beach on historic routes that follow old army roadways. Caines Head SRA is accessible from Seward on foot, by boat, or via the Coastal Trail.
