Cahawba was Alabama's state capital from 1819 to 1826 and became a ghost town shortly after the Civil War. Old Cahawba Archaeological Park is a dog-friendly historical site and area of interest in Orrville, AL. Dogs on leash are invited to join you on your explorations of the ruins and walks around the interpretive park. There are 5 miles of walking routes in the park, and pet owners are urged to pick up after their pets.

The Talladega National Forest offers a variety of hiking paths, as well as picnicking and camping opportunities. Lake Chinnabee is a great place to go fishing, and the Shepard Branch Shooting/Archery Trail is a great place to practice archery. Talladega National Forest is pet friendly, so Petzooie may participate in the fun. Remember to keep Petzooie on a leash and clean up after your pets according to park guidelines.
