The Mission Dolores Park Dog Park, located near San Francisco's Mission District and the Castro, includes an off-leash section that is popular with dog owners and their canine companions. The park is next to a subway station, which is convenient. The main park offers some of the city's most breathtaking views, and leashed dogs are welcome in the park's other parts.

Allow your pet to run about freely in this huge, green park, but keep in mind that the area is not fenced.

In San Francisco's Haight Ashbury neighborhood, Buena Vista Park has an off-leash area for man's best friend. Enjoy the picturesque views from the top of the hill with your dog on a morning or afternoon run.

The more than five miles of trails at Mount Sutro Open Space Reserve, which is next to UCSF's Parnassus campus, are open to leashed dogs. The reserve is home to a 100-year-old forest as well as a diverse range of birds and other species.
