North Higgins Lake State Park

Lyon Oaks, a 1,041-acre park in Wixom, protects 800 acres of environmentally fragile wetlands. A 13-acre gated dog park, a day-use area with a picnic shelter, a playground and recreation fields, and around 6 miles of trails for bicycling, cross-country skiing, and on-leash dog walking are all available at the park.

Pets are welcome at Markey Dog Park. A few obstacles, a huge open area, a community water bowl with extra gallons of water, and a pleasant covered pavilion await you and your dog. Remember to clean up after your dog.

A Parks and Recreation Advisory Board exists in Markey Township. Mike Tussey, Hal Hackett, Wendy Engle, Joanne Donaldson, and Andrea Kitchen make up the board. We're seeking for more people to join our team.

South Higgins Lake State Park is a great place for nature lovers, with 1,000 acres of forested terrain and a beautiful beach. During the summer, you may cool down by swimming in the lake, which includes a fun frolic with your dog at one of the two pet-friendly shoreline areas.
