Many volunteers, including the La Riviere Horse Riders, the Prairie du Chien Rod & Gun Club, and the Boy Scouts, keep it running. On the geological feature known as the Bridgeport Terrace, it includes sections of hills, woodlands, open fields, and minimal agricultural land. The terrace is really the prehistoric Mississippi River's old riverbed. The park is also a recognized Tree City and Bird City USA destination due to its richness of natural resources. Hiking, bird viewing, cross-country skiing, mountain biking, picnics, berry and nut gathering, and nature appreciation are all activities that can be enjoyed today.
