Fred Hesse Junior Community Park is one of the city's most popular parks, with well-kept grounds and an active community center. Baseball and soccer fields, many picnic spots with barbecues, playground equipment appropriate for newborns to adolescents, and a well-used quarter-mile walking trail are among the amenities available to the public in the upper park area. A beach volleyball court, picnic spots (no barbecues allowed), leisurely strolling routes, and comfortable locations for enjoying panoramic views of Catalina Island north to Malibu are all available at the lower park site. Dogs must be on a leash in this park, as they must in other parks. Bags for dog waste are provided.

Alta Vicente Reserve

Alta Vicente Reserve is a 55-acre parcel of property located on the slopes below and around Rancho Palos Verdes City Hall, with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean to the north and Oceanfront Estates to the south. Rancho Caninos Dog Park

The half-acre Rancho Caninos Dog Park features a cedar chip surface and is divided into small and large dog spaces. Shaded spaces, benches, water faucets and bowls for dogs, a restroom and hand wash station, and adjacent parking are all available in the park. The park is also accessible to people with disabilities. The facility is unmanned, and there are no posted guidelines. When outside the facility, please remember to keep your dog on a leash.
